Macaroni KID publishers got an up-close view of the construction of the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya in 2019 during a hard-hat tour.
Our publishers are again getting ready to visit Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya — but this time we won't be visiting a construction zone. We'll be hanging out in the six-acre water park, dining at the fabulous restaurants, and taking in all the great activities the resort offers. The resort opened last August.
"Macaroni KID was among some of the very first media and press to tour the resort during construction," said Macaroni KID CEO Jamie Ratner. "So we are excited to be returning to see the completed resort and have our annual Macaroni KID publisher get-together there in June."
We're especially looking forward to experiencing the first-ever Summer of SpongeBob at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya. We've been told to expect a world of surprises — from themed events to scavenger hunts and episode viewing parties — as SpongeBob SquarePants and his crew take over the resort all summer long.

Plus our publishers — many of whom are also moms — are sure to be impressed by thoughtful extras like strollers, cribs, changing tables, monitors, bottle warmers, and even kid-sized bathrobes. This resort has been designed for families who enjoy a premium vacation experience with a playful Nickelodeon twist.
Here are some of the resort amenities that our publishers can't wait to see:
Aqua Nick®
The sprawling 6-acres Nickelodeon-themed water complex is one of Mexico's largest water attractions and is surrounded by lush tropical gardens, along with a fast-paced adventure river and a meandering lazy river. There are also 20 water slides and an activity pool with daily scheduled fun. We can't wait for our publishers to take part in the daily sliming sessions. We are at Nickelodeon, after all!

The restaurants
Macaroni KID publishers have had the joy of staying at a Karisma Gourmet Inclusive resort before and know the five-star quality of the restaurants and meals there. So we can't wait to check out the six themed restaurants around the hotel and Nickelodeon Place including:
- Good Burger, inspired by the enduringly popular comedy sketch and movie of the same name, this restaurant delivers a playful burger joint experience with a classic Nickelodeon heritage. Elements throughout put a sophisticated and playful spin on the signature food items, classic pinstriped uniforms and phrases familiar to fans.
- Piazza, where you can join the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for salads, flat breads, and their favorite food, PIZZA! The dishes are made to share, so we've been told not to be surprised if we find one of the Turtles sitting at our table!
- Le Spatula, named in honor of SpongeBob’s iconic spatula, this playful, family-oriented spot showcases oversized sculptural elements and food-themed show art to give guests a tantalizing taste of Bikini Bottom.

The rooms
The rooms at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya are the height of luxury. Seriously: The 280 oceanfront swim-up suites are all built for a family of five and come with TWO bathrooms in every room! There are also the unbelievable Nickelodeon-themed suites, like the 3,000 square foot rooftop penthouse suites with oceanfront terraces, including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Lair, the Big Kahuna Suite, and the Pineapple Suite. Your kids will think they've died and gone to SpongeBob heaven.
Kids will enjoy endless fun, from character visits to Club Nick. |
Club Nick
Part clubhouse, part artist’s studio, Club Nick is the hub for free play as well as more structured family activities. You’ll find a mega ball pit, a two-story slide, a daily schedule of themed activities based on Nickelodeon characters, and a whole lot of do-it-yourself Nickelodeon fun, from arts-and-crafts classes and science experiments to cooking sessions and mini-theater. Club Nick is for kids ages 4 to 12, but our publishers will probably want to stay and play. Kids have never had it so good!
